In some places where restrictions are a little lighter, it's one of the few ways people can get out as many destinations are still closed. Demand has been up since last March, as people are spending less on travel, eating out, and events, so they have a larger disposable income to invest in new hobbies. Remember, international business run on multi year time tables, so orders for parts from suppliers are often a year ahead of when they will be made/delivered. Add on that most major businesses run a just-in-time inventory model, there hasn't been a large supply on hand to help cover part shortages. There can also be 3+ tiers of suppliers to get 1 part to a manufacturer. Some manufactures are operating at limited capacity due to parts shortages from suppliers because suppliers aren't operating like normal for the same reasons.

If you're interested in a bike, most dealers will reserve it for you to test ride for as little as $100 (refundable of course). I unpacked 3 Goldwings, a DRZ, and a trail 125 this week and they were sold before we even got them delivered. Almost EVERY bike that comes in gets setup and PDI'd immediately and sells within a week.
